Thermopolis, WY is an unknown jewel in the center of Wyoming on the Upper Big Horn River which not many know about. Very few float this stretch north of Thermopolis. Please inquire about details.
The fishing on these sections of the North Platte River is second to none. Beautiful scenery, wild fish, wildlife viewing and an awesome shore lunch, you can't beat it!
Imagine a winding river full of brown and rainbow trout, very few people, and the chance to see eagles soaring, moose, deer, pronghorn antelope, and the occasional bighorn sheep climbing on the rocky canyon walls. All in a day of fishing. This section of river is designated as a Blue ribbon trout river. It has not been stocked since 1979 and has had recent fish counts of over 4000 trout per mile. There are some very good dry fly fishing opportunities here and if you happen to hit the Green Drake mayfly hatch it could change you forever!
If you are staying in Saratoga, it is always nice to end the day soaking in the hot springs pools. (These trips require special preparation due to "runoff" conditions, please inquire!)
For those of you looking for Colorado walk/wade trips in northern Colorado, please inquire, as I am able to arrange trips into Rocky Mountain National Park, Cache La Poudre River near Fort Collins and other waters throughout the front range!
The Grey Reef section of the North Platte River near Alcova, Wyoming is a legendary fishery. Come see what the excitement is all about! It is a great opportunity for experienced and beginner fly fishing anglers to hone their skills on some very nice sized hard fighting fish. The best part is the number of fish in this section of river, estimates by the Wyoming Game and Fish Dept in 2013 are over 8000 rainbow trout per mile. The Grey Reef Section has not been stocked since 2001 and the fish that live there are strong healthy fish!
Come fish with Kingfisher Drifters and have a great day on the water. I will have a great shore lunch, nice equipment, a friendly instruction, and a desire to make your trip the best!
